Another traditional event: the 24th Annual Holland Festival celebrated on the Sunday of Memorial weekend.
The United Netherlands Organizations (UNO), umbrella organization of all the Dutch clubs in Los Angeles, are inviting you to join families of the Dutch and Dutch-Indonesian (Indo) community to come and celebrate their shared cultural heritage of the Netherlands and the former Dutch East-Indies (colonial Indonesia). Enjoy the large variety of food from Holland and Indonesia and browse the different vendor booths. Come and listen and dance to the life music. Bring your picnic chair and blanket to relax on the grass, while the younger kids can enjoy the bouncing inflatable houses.
For many of us older Indo’s, who are living at the Foothills of La en San Bernardino Counties, is Long Beach a real hassle to go to. The ground is not flat and parking is a real problem.
Is there a way to arrange such a festival at a more centrally located place? My idea is something like Arcadia that has space enough around the race track.
I understand that the Chinese celebrate their new year party there too. This is the general thoughts of the oldies at the Duarte inn.
Just my 2 cents.
