The Barefoot Dutchman to embark on a 3,000 miles Barefoot Journey from LA to NYC.
A new Guiness World Record to raise awareness for Men’s Mental Health as part of the
#BraveMenTalk campaign.
Los Angeles, CA – Anton Nootenboom (1986), known as “The Barefoot Dutchman,” is a Dutch Afghanistan Veteran
and the holder of the Guiness World Record for the longest barefoot hike.
After achieving global acclaim in 2021 for being the first person to walk barefoot to the base camp of Mount Everest,
The Barefoot Dutchman shattered the standing world record for Longest Barefoot Journey, covering an astonishing
1,876 miles along the East Coast of Australia.
Throughout this massive physical and mental challenge, Nootenboom will call attention to Men’s Mental Health and the alarming statistics surrounding it: globally, we lose a man to suicide every minute of the day. As he walks across the USA, Anton will raise awareness and funds to support various programs and initiatives to defy these statistics.
Under the banner “Brave Men Talk”, Anton aspires to spark conversations and actions that can help prevent men’s suicides globally. From city to city, State to State, this Brave Dutchman, who successfully battled his own mental health challenges, will encourage other men to show vulnerability and share their stories. In doing so, he hopes to end the stigma that surrounds men’s mental health.
Anton Nootenboom will kick-off his epic walk on Saturday 17 February at Noon at Santa Monica Beach (at Lifeguard Tower 4 in front of the Annenberg Community Beach House). Supporters of this cause are invited to a Meet & Greet and to kick off his journey with a joint 1-mile barefoot challenge: all are welcome to join him on the first mile of his walk on the beach.
Media representatives are cordially invited to interview Anton on Thursday 15 February. Please reserve your interview slot. Additionally, media participation is highly encouraged at the kick-off event on 17 February at the beach, starting at 12 Noon, with the walk officially commencing at 1 PM.
